PEO Members Celebrate THIRST
Kindness of Vice-President Becky Baker, I today enjoyed discussing the background of THIRST, A NOVEL (www.fireshippress.com) with a group of generous readers, all members of the Philanthropic Educational Organization. This pioneer women’s group raises funds for the advancement of women and girls.
My appreciation to a lively and engaging audience.
Happy reading and grazie mille!
If you haven’t already done so, have a look at writer Jhumpa Lahiri’s “My Life’s Sentences” in the NY Times’ SUNDAY REVIEW section (3/18/12).
Here is one of hers that I’ve pinned above my computer:
“The best sentences orient us, like stars in the sky, like landmarks on a trail.”
Readers wanting an introduction to Venice, as well as readers seeking a return to the floating city, be sure to purchase a copy of Peter Ackroyd’s fascinating book, now out in paperback (Anchor Books).
An engaging text, full of interesting anecdotes, along with brilliant photographs, kept me reading far into the night.
What books do you recommend that might do the same?
